From a young age, David fell in love with ice hockey. Nonetheless, he didn’t start playing professionally until he was around 19 (after graduating high school). Back then, he enrolled in the 1995 National Hockey League Entry Draft, marking the beginning of his professional career. Throughout his career, David played for various teams across multiple leagues (as many as eight). During this time, the Florida Panthers selected him to play in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Later on, in 2008, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees signed David as a player and goaltending coach. At some point in his life, David joined the U.S. Army Reserve to receive citizenship.
